Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)

The SCRA protects active-duty service members, including Reservists and National Guard who are called to active duty. In addition to several other protections, the SCRA provides a reduced interest rate of 6% on debt incurred before beginning active duty.

PLUS, many financial institutions take an extra step or more for our service members.

USAA
In USAA's commitment to serving the military community, they give you a lower interest rate of 4% on pre-existing USAA credit card and loan debt. Whether it's a deployment, permanent change of station (PCS) or if you qualify for a campaign medal, you may be entitle to huge savings/rebates.

PCS - Active-duty members who have permanent change of station (PCS) orders can get their USAA MasterCard, Visa, or American Express credit card rate reduced to 4%.
■ Applies to current balances, new purchases and cash advances for up to 12 months when USAA Bank is notified of current or future PCS assignments.
■ Notify USAA any time prior to or up to 12 months after the PCS report date to be eligible for the benefit.

Capitol One
The goal of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is to enable those actively serving in the military to devote their energy to the defense of our country.

Benefits are retroactive to your active duty start date or "order to" date for reservists and will remain on your account until one year after leaving or completing active duty. A letter will be sent to you at least 45 days before your benefits are scheduled to end.

Discover
The interest rate charged on your entire balance will be lowered to 5.9% fixed rate on purchases and cash advances. If you have any promotional rates on the account that are lower than 5.9% fixed, they will remain in effect until the promotion expires. Upon expiration, the balance will move to 5.9% fixed APR during the period of SCRA benefit coverage.
