Free (No-Cost or funded) Certifications

You probably already know the U.S. Army funds 100s of certifications with Army Credentialing Assistance (CA), but there are other ways to get FREE (No-cost to you or Funded) Certifications!

Institutionally Delivered Credentialing (IDC) is an all-volunteer program endorsed by multiple Commandants based on the needs of the branch and managed locally by the school under the direction of ACCESS at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

  • Currently, 14 proponents have established IDC programs.
  • Majority of the credential (80%) is taught while attending PME, by Army instructors.
  • Soldiers are eligible for $800 of IDC funding for exams per FY.
  • IDC participation has no impact on a Soldier’s TA or CA.
  • There is no ADSO associated with IDC.
  • 10 promotion points per credential (maximum of 50) for enlisted Soldiers.
  • MOS is the deciding factor, not COMPO or rank – all COMPOs and ranks welcome.
  • Proponent Commandants validate credentials important to their branch annually to receive funding.

Onward to Opportunity (O2O) is a free career training program that provides professional certification and employee support services to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. O2O combines industry-validated curricula, strong partnerships with leading veteran service organizations and private sector companies, and comprehensive career coaching services to prepare and match you with your next career.
